Transition Plan for 2007 Advanced Level Syllabus

On October 12, 2007 the ISTQB General Assembly released the new Advanced Level Syllabus.  Effective July 1, 2008, all Advanced Level exams began running against the new syllabus.  Visit http://www.astqb.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=5 to view the new syllabus.

RBCS has completed its creation of its new advanced courses, Advanced Test Manager and Advanced Test Analyst. We are committed to working with our clients to make the transition from the current syllabus to the new syllabus as seamless as possible. On July 1, 2008 the Functional Testing Advanced Level course was replaced by our ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst course. We now are offering the new Advanced Test Analyst courses and prep guide. Likewise on July 1, 2008 the old Test Management Advanced Level course was replaced by our ISTQB Advanced Test Manager course. We are also now offering the new Advanced Test Manager courses and prep guides. The last day for exams to be run against the old Advanced Syllabus is April 16, 2009, so those of our clients who bought older versions of prep guides or attended courses based on the old Advanced Syllabus have until then to schedule an exam based on the old Advanced Syllabus.

How do I take an ISTQB Certified Tester exam after taking one of RBCS' e-learning courses?

Electronic exam - The Foundation Level exam can be taken electronically through test centers. For more information visit the ASTQB Electronic Exams page for taking exams through the Kryterion Test Center or visit the ISEB Certification page for taking exams through the Prometric Test Center.

Onsite group exam - If you have a group of people taking an exam, you can arrange through the ASTQB (American Software Testing Qualifications Board) or CSTB (Canadian Software Testing Board) to have them send a proctor to administer an onsite exam for the group. Public course exam - An exam is given on the last day of each RBCS live ISTQB Certified Tester course. If you have taken the e-learning course or have chosen to self study, you can still arrange with the ASTQB or CSTB to take the exam at the end of a public course. It doesn't even have to be the same exam that the course attendees are taking. For example, you could take the Advanced Test Manager exam while the course attendees are taking the Foundation Level exam. For more information visit the ASTQB Scheduled Public Exams page or the CSTB Exams page.

Note:  If you are taking an Advanced Level exam for the first time, the ASTQB requires you to be pre-qualified before you take the Advanced Level exam.
